Established in 1987, Italy’s dot IT country-code top-level extension is very popular both locally and in the English-speaking world. The reason is that the domain is a pronoun, which can be used for forming creative and attractive domain names – write.it, youcanmake.it and so on. This is a way to create an easy-to-memorize domain name, so that it will be easier for your visitors to return to your website or to share it with associates and fellows. The domain extension can also be used for a website, which is linked to the technology sector given the fact that IT is an abbreviation, which is in use all over the globe.

Given that dot IT domains are not sold directly by IT-NIC, the Registry organization that manages this top-level domain extension, such a domain can be ordered through a third-party registration provider, such as ours. You can purchase a dot IT domain for no more than one year at a time, and the domains are transferable, so you can move your existing domain over to our firm and we will renew it as soon as the transfer has been completed. Since there are existing 2nd-level Domains that include names of various territories and localities in Italy reserved for local third-level registrations, new names that include geographical areas of any kind are not allowed on any level to avoid any future confusion.
