IP Blocking
Find out more on IP blocking, what it really indicates and just how and when it’s best to use it.
In case you notice a large increase in the traffic to your Internet site and in case after you look at the visitor stats it turns out that it comes from areas across the world or from other servers, your site is more than likely being attacked by an automatic bot. Such pieces of software go through random websites seeking to log in to their administrator area using a brute-force attack or to leave spam comments underneath every article where such an option is made available. The fact is that, that is something relatively popular in recent times, but if you know the IP addresses from which the attacks come, you'll be able to block them, so the bots shall not be able to access your site in any way. Naturally, you may block IPs even if you allow only people from specific countries to access your site.

IP Blocking in Hosting
Our IP Blocking tool is included with the innovative Hepsia hosting Control Panel, which comes with all
hosting accounts. It will allow you to block addresses with simply a couple of clicks. No coding skills are needed, as you shall use an intuitive interface - you need to simply choose a domain or a subdomain from a drop-down menu and enter the IP address that you would like to be blocked. You will be able to see all the IP addresses that you've added within the exact same section and whitelisting each of them will take only a click. If you notice your website is being flooded by different IPs, you will be able to block a whole IP range too. This could be completed by omitting the last number of the address. For instance, if you wish to block all 254 addresses from 1.1.1.1 to 1.1.1.255, you only need to type in 1.1.1. and leave the last spot blank .

IP Blocking in Semi-dedicated Servers
Our
semi-dedicated server accounts include a quite simple-to-use IP blocking tool, that'll allow you to restrict individual IPs or even whole networks from accessing your websites with onlya few clicks and you will not have any difficulties to achieve that even if that's your first hosting account. Once you visit the IP Blocking section of the Hepsia Control Panel, you'll just need to select the domain or subdomain in question from a drop-down list, then input the IP address inside a box that you'll see there and you will be good to go. To limit the access for an entire network, you need to leave one or more octets blank. For instance, if you type in 123.123. and don't type in anything within the third and fourth positions, our web server will deny requests from all IP addresses between 123.123.1.1 and 123.123.255.255.
